Event Description:
– On July 27 from 11:00 am – noon the Museum of Aviation is inviting the public to visit with the French actors and producers of the award-winning film ''Papa Said – We Should Never Forget'' featured in the Museum's Robert L. Scott, Jr. WWII Hangar Theatre. The film, which tells the story of the French citizens of Graignes, France, who helped American paratroopers on D-Day June 6, 1944, recently won several awards including a Southeast Regional Emmy.
The actors and producers are part of a group of 12 French citizens on a 9-day visit to Atlanta, Warner Robins and Columbus, Georgia. The group includes Anya Colomb, who played the lead role of a young girl in the film, and three other citizens of Graignes who also played parts in the film. They will meet people in the Museum's Robert L. Scott, Jr. World War II Hangar near the exhibit entitled ''The 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment & the Air Invasion of Normandy.'' Also in the group will be Dominique Francois, and his wife Gaelle who played the mother in the film. Dominique was the collector of many of the World War II artifacts displayed in the exhibit.
Melissa Spalding, Coordinating Producer of the film for the Museum of Aviation said, ''The film portrays a true story of World War II's unlikeliest heroes, including one young girl who, with her family and fellow villagers, put their lives on the line to assist Allied soldiers in the fight for freedom. As the major attraction in Warner Robins – the international city – we are very happy to see our French friends revisit the Museum of Aviation and thank them for all they have done to help us tell this significant story of World War II.''
