Heroes of the Sky: Adventures in Early Flight, 1903-1939, a temporary special exhibit to be shown May 15 through June 20 at the Museum of Aviation, celebrates the 100th anniversary of flight through stories of fliers, businessmen, and inventors from the first forty years of aviation. The exhibit highlights adventurers ,both men and women-who shaped the skies with their minds, hearts and lives. Using historic artifacts, documentary vcideos, graphic panels, and hands-on activities, Heroes of the Sky introduces visitors to the inventors and entrepreneurs who had the vision to see manned flight as more than a simple curiosity. The Wright Brothers, Henry Ford, donald Douglas, Glenn Curtiss, Jimmy Doolittle, Bessie Coleman, and Admiral Richard Byrd are some of the adventurers featured in this exhibition. In conjucntion with this exhibit, the museum will host a free film festival. Each daily film will begin at 1:00 pm in the Museum's Eagle Building Vistascope Theater. The Museum will also host a children's reading hour and guided tours. Call 926-5558 to schedule a group.
