Mark your calendar now and plan to be a part of this free, family-oriented arts event on May 2, 2010 co-hosted by Macon State College, Warner Robins Campus. This Arts Extravaganza is a gathering of all disciplines of the arts and offers hands-on experiences for youth and adults in the visual arts and crafts as well as an opportunity to enjoy the performing arts, meet local authors and artists, hear about the old masters, view art by local students, and to try your hand at flower arranging, Ikebana style! It is sponsored in part by Flint Energies and the Georgia Arts Council. The 2010 extravaganza will be held on the first Sunday in May in Warner Robins on the Campus of Macon State College. Several outstanding opportunities for hands-on art projects will be presented by members of various Arts associations. The goal of this project is to expose the arts to Houston County by allowing all members of the community including students, adults, families, and those who might not otherwise be exposed to a hands-on artistic or cultural experience, to participate through demonstrations and hands-on activities in the creation of various works of art. We expect to attract artists representing visual and performing arts groups. The audience will be entertained by the many talents of our local performers. Additionally, visitors to the event will ''meet'' Georgia O'Keefe, Picasso and Rembrandt through representations by middle Georgia actors. Visitors to the event will meet local authors as well. Peggy Vesely, a past HAA president illustrated a new children's book by author Nakeisha M. Curry, M.D. The Grand Bombaray. A limited number of signed copies of the book will be available.
