GRAND OPENING! GRAND OPENING! GRAND OPENING! Cochran Motor Speedway will be having its grand opening on March 24th with practice beginning on the 23rd. We have an exciting year planned and we're looking forward to turning the speedway around. I had several obstacles in the way; our county commissioner was one of them. With the help of Tony Stewart's attorney, who has won cases all over the country, the Commissioner was informed that it was illegal to write an ordinance for one business and not all the others in the county. So everything will run as normal except the Heat Races will start earlier. The first Heat race will begin at 6:30pm with the driver's meeting beginning at 6:00 pm. All cars will go across the scales for a safety sticker before going onto the track. The new Tech Manager is Stevie Capps from Waycross, Ga. After 6:00pm he can be reached at 912-284-0008. Please continue to show the track your support and we will continue to fight to keep it open. We are still in the process of putting new clay on the track. A lot of time and energy is being put into the turns to give the driver a better race. Also, we have moved all the scraps from behind turn one and two so in case you make a ''mistake'', you can see where you're going. A new office has been moved in with a full time secretary. The secretary's name is AJ and her office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8am thru 5pm. The Friday Night Shoot-Out will begin on April 6 with Sunoco Super Stock (Myers Performance Pure Stock with Goodyear Track Tire) $600.00 to win until July 27th.
