Event Description:
Professional Big Band returns for CLCP Fund Raiser. The Houston County Literate Community Program (CLCP) announces the September 16th return of Still Swinging, The Les Still Big Band at the Homer J. Walker Civic Center in Warner Robins. This year's performance represents a record setting 6th year in a row for the popular 18-piece, Glenn Miller style orchestra from Atlanta.
Fans are promised a bigger & better than ever show this year including the return of The Atlanta Swing Dance Association, which brought the house down last September with stunning exhibitions in costume. Also back again The Swing Shift, a four High School bands and this year for the first time, musicians representing area church orchestras.
Additionally patrons will discover a more comprehensive event program including coupons and special discounts from restaurants and other businesses, along with drawings for a number of outstanding door prizes with a minimum 100.00 value. Yet another highlight of the evening will be 21st Century Parnership Executive Director & former Channel 13 personality Mary Therese Tebbe sharing M/C duties with CLCP Coordinator Skip Holmes.
Finally Holmes points out, though it's the organization's only fundraiser, again this year CLCP has held the line on ticket prices, still just $10.00 each, with special group discounts. Gates open at 6:00 ; at 6:15 the Perry High School Jazz Band Ensemble will warm up the House! Showtime at 7:00 pm. All proceeds benefit adult literacy in Houston County.
Tickets are available at Middle Georgia Technical College, City Hall, Senior Citizen's Center, Warner Robins Area Chamber of Commerce.
